10 - Shepley Bridge to Went Aqueduct - Calder and Hebble Navigation, Aire and Calder Navigation.

09:00 departure. We entered Shepley Bridge Lock by just the OS top gate. NA remarked the gates looked a bit crap and probably of 1970's vintage...the day after our passage the ns top gate heel post collapsed...literally the gate was found sitting a couple of inches lower! CaRT man was fishing out a load of floaty weed at Thornhill Double Locks, we locked down the weed with us, to make it easier for him to collect. Another busy day on the Yorkshire waterways...we actually passed another moving boat at Figure of Three Locks! On the off side above Broad Cut Top Lock there was an impromptu live gig going on, a few Narrowboaters moored up playing electric guitars under a gazebo. Heavens above! another moving boat coming up Broad Cut Low Lock. Passed through Wakefield Flood Lock at 13:10. Much new development around this area, including the new Marstons Ruddy Duck pub. A sprinkling of rain in the late afternoon, foreboding skies over the Aire and Calder main line.  Packed up for the night (20:15) at Sykehouse Junction, just round the corner on the New Junction Canal. NA prepared  curry ready as soon as we stopped.
