The Tuesday Night Club on Tour
Tour 2002
32 - Consall Forge to Stone, Caldon Canal, Trent and Mersey Canal.
Monday 29th July 2002.
Another nice day, so an early start at 07:25. Pretty uneventful
trip up the Caldon. We did not venture up to Leek as the Caldon will have to be
done again soon, when the section below Flint Mill Lock is open. Some tidying up
of the levelled pottery site.
Al-Sheikh's Indian Restaurant, by Planet Lock, looked like it had finally
closed.
Out onto Trent and Mersey main line at 14:10, in the southern direction towards
Stone. Meaford Flight fairly busy. The trees above were terribly overhanging, we
warned a "flower pot" boat, but they did not listen. I think they
managed to rescue most of their blooms!
We eventually fizzled out for the day (18:50), just above Stone, at the beginning
of the rather over populated visitor moorings above Lime Kiln Lock No 30. That
night we went for a rather good Indian in Stone.
