2 - NB Earnest Boston to Swineshead, Black Sluice Navigation

A cruiser locked out before us, but we spent a while hanging about for the tide to make a level at the short Boston Grand Sluice and when out on the level at 13:20, this was because the lock is only 45ft max. It was then down the tidal Haven, passed the fish dock, to go straight in to the booked and waiting Black Sluice Lock (13:40). After locking down to the Black Sluice Navigation we tied up on the waiting pontoon and did the paperwork/payment with Andy Woods, the lock keeper and river inspector.

After lunch on the pontoon we ambled off at 14:40. Hubbert's Bridge (pass) 15:45. Arrived at Swineshead Bridge VM at 16:30. That night it was a good meal and pint in The Barge pub (shut 2019 - looks permanent)
