Tour 2013
7 - Stalybridge to Diggle - Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
Thursday 25th April 2013
07:30 departure from Stalybridge. The Wooden Canal Boat Trust site had NB Hazel nearly finished which was soon to to be side launched. Land and Water were dredging out the SSSI!!! above Knowle Bridge No 97. Uneventful passage all the way up to Diggle as Wool Road Lock No 24W was left unlocked. There was one other boat already waiting at the tunnel. We filled to the brim with water. That night we went to The Diggle Hotel, a short walk over the railway. This had recently been taken over , there was talk of it being refurbished, which would probably take away some of its charm. On form beers and a proper home made northern pie, not one of those southern pastry capped pots!
