1 - Barge fettling at Douai
Friday 28th May 2010
A day spent on barge Final Fling doing some essential maintenance...especially the bodge of the year, the bowthruster contactor, where a knackered "Bakelite" actuating rod was "fabricated" out of a section of free Barclays ball point pen, with pencil insert. There were bets about how long this would last, in fact it lasted the whole 2.5 weeks! Meals out in Douai, at the Neuf Dragons Chinese (rather good buffet) and Chez Willy.
Final Fling's bowthruster contactor in disarray.
JW fits navigation lamps (displaced from mast, after it was replaced by a
crane). Neil cleans bowthruster contactor contacts.
The monster 15hp bowthruster, sans contactor.
Douai barge moorings, in the "Garage" wides, just after the entrance
to the old Scarpe Moyenne cut through the centre of Douai.
Neil changing fuel filters on Final Fling.
