The TNC is a Gentleman's Social and Drinking Club which was formed in Ickenham,
Middlesex, in 1980 by the surviving members of the Every Night Of The Week Club
(E NOT W). This
followed the marriage of a number of the previous and current members to their present (or
former) wives. Female members are now allowed, as long as they elect to be
"Gentlemen".
The object of the Club is to maintain the tradition of holding Tuesday Nights
sacrosanct in order to attend local hostelries with the aim of assessing the quality of
various real ales. Occasionally, if a quorum dictates, Tuesday Night is moved to
another weekday!
Regular events in the
Tuesday Night Club On Tour calendar now include cruising on
the waterways of Britain, Ireland and some continental waterways in Holland and
France. Also included are some cruise ship trips involving the Suez, Panama and
Kiel Canals.
This site will detail the varied past and future cruises of T.N.C. On Tour. Of
particular interest to canal enthusiasts will be the emphasis placed on little
used or hard to reach navigations.
The "Earnest" and "Beatty" pages detail the new and old flagship narrowboats of
T.N.C. On Tour. The "Earnest" page is particularly detailed and shows an R&D
Fabrications fully fitted narrowboat being constructed from baseplate to being
launched. There is also a fair bit of discussion about the specification for
"Earnest".
The Maurice A build and trialling pages
detail the build of the 15m TNC / Branson designed barge Maurice A, at
Riversdale in Ireland.
The Canal Restoration pages detail in images various walks along the Rochdale
Canal before final restoration. Images of Frankton locks at the top of the Mont
over the years. Images of the top of the Newport Branch of Shroppie in 1972.
Views of Woodham and Deepcut locks of Basingstoke being restored in 1980's.
